About
I’m Nick Coury, an ultrarunner based in Phoenix, Arizona. I hold the American 24-hour record with 173+ miles, set at the 2021 Desert Solstice.
I’ve been running for over 25 years and racing ultras for over 20. This blog is where I write about pacing strategy, negative splitting, and race reports from my journey in ultrarunning.
I’m passionate about the idea that negative splits in ultrarunning are not just viable but actually more powerful than at shorter distances. Through years of experimentation, I’ve developed frameworks for pacing, estimation, and race execution that I share here.
